04/15/12 New Haven, Missouri
We saw first ruby throated male hummingbird at our feeder on the front porch in the middle of a storm late afternoon after 5p.m.

04/16/12 Jefferson City, Missouri
Finally! Only one male so far. Maybe he rode-in on this weekends NNE storm track. I was beginning to worry what with the severe weather we have had.

04/15/12 Gentry, Arkansas
Extreme weather in NW Arkansas today and spotted my first ruby during a heavy downpour. Hummers are about 2 weeks late this year.

04/15/12 Kenosha, Wisconsin
Hummers were flying all around the deck and the tree where I hang the feeders at dusk tonight. First I've seen them and had to rush to get my feeders out. Kenosha, WI 04/15

04/16/12 Haines, Alaska
Saw my first rufous out by our deck today. I was wearing a red jacket and it swooped right by me. Sunny weather, almost all of the snow has melted.

04/15/12 Juneau, Alaska
Bright male at feeder about noon at the back end of Mendanhall Valley.

Many interesting sightings and observations are found in the "Other Species Sighted"

Lucifer:
04/15/12 Terlingua, Texas
Male Lucifer Hummingbird at my feeder. Female in nearby shrub. The ocotillo blooms are fading and the Lucifer finally showed up at 'home.'

Unknown:
04/11/12 La Habra Heights, California

Not sure what species this one is, but just loved the picture. (See Image of the Week in today's update.)

Finally a male rufous who looks like he's come to stay (judging by the way he charged a male Anna's). Bellingham, WA 4/13/12
