Last Sighting
March 13th was the last sighting for a rufous hummingbird that overwintered in the Houston, Texas area. It was first sighted 11/29/12. Notice the plumage? "Few leftover wintering adult males are still molting wing, tail, and contour feathers. They will be quite dull by comparison to new, bright shiny arrivals," shares banding expert Nancy Newfield.
