Females Arrive
This week our Journey North hummingbird Expert, Lanny Chambers reported seeing his first female rubythroat in Fenton, Missouri. "She may not be around long, as most birds this time of year are migrating through," reported Lanny. If you've had females at your feeder for several days, they might be settling in to mate, build their nest, and tend to nestlings. This female was sighted by Debra Hopkins in North Carolina. 04/19/13 |
