Early blooming native plants are good sources of nectar for the early spring. Shallow Lake, Ontario (49.64N, -83.3W) reported first rubythroat and oriole this week along with a list of flowers starting to bloom in their area. "The flowers that are in bloom include trout lilies, trilliums, pulmonaria, many downy serviceberry shrubs, coltsfoot, yellow & blue violets, and dandelions," reported Cheryl. 05/05/13
