Feisty Fighters
Rufous are known as the feistiest hummingbirds in North America. They will attack other hummers to chase them away from feeders and flowers in their home territory.

"Here is the male hummingbird (rufous, I think) that has been here all winter. A couple of other hummingbirds came through in February and he had a fit about it when they stayed for a week. He was chasing them around and off the feeders. " Houston, Texas 04/03/14
