Observations from Citizen Scientists:
Week Ending March 4, 2014
Each week, choose your favorite hummingbird sighting and record your thoughts in your journal.

Feb. 25: Pensacola, Florida
"First saw the rubythroat nectaring in honeysuckle, then at the feeder. We have had 6 rufous for the winter, but I feel they left last night. We did not see or hear them today. I'm sure they would be around with this new rubythroat."

Feb. 27: Tsawwassen, British Columbia:
"A male rufous. Our earliest ever sighting of 18 years of records. The first ever sighting in February and the first time we had snow on the ground."

Feb. 28: Astoria, Oregon
"I put the feeder up on Monday, then saw and heard the first male rufous today."

Feb. 28: Carlton, Oregon
"This is the earliest date we have seen a male rufous."

Feb. 27: Bastrop, Texas
"First ruby-throated sighting. A female."
