Black-chins Arrive
The Black-chinned hummingbird's neck isn't completely black. He really has a thin band of iridescent purple feathers below his black chin. Often migrating up from Mexico each spring, Black-chinned hummers breed from Texas up to the Canadian border.
"First adult male Black-chinned Hummingbird arrived March 8, 2016 (four days earlier than in spring of 2015). He looks great! Feathers are pretty and fresh. He does look a bit tired though and is resting and drinking lots of nectar."
