Wind conditions on April 15 and 16th were ideal to aid Ruby-throats on their northbound journeys. Many observers are reporting earlier-than-normal sightings — reminiscent of the early spring 2012 Ruby-throat migration.
"This is the earliest spring migration I've ever mapped, but its progression up the major river valleys has been quite typical. Local weather is everything," reported our Journey North Hummingbird Expert, Lanny Chambers.
