Happy Earth Day Quiz: How Do You Measure Up?

CAUTION: "This quiz may surprise you, shock you, or make you think. Please remain calm. . . but not too calm!!"

During the past eleven weeks, you've traveled the world in search of faraway places, new knowledge and your secret mystery friends. But actually, you and your new friends have been "connected" all along. Whether you live in Budapest, Beijing, Buffalo or somewhere else, the fact is we all share the same global Web of Life.

Every day we each have an impact on the planet, or as some call it an "ecological footprint." How does your footprint measure up? Are you living large, with an ecological footprint exceeding the world average? Or do you walk softly and responsibly, leaving a smaller footprint? It's time to find out!

The answers are pouring in! If you haven't sent yours in yet, you MUST do so by the end of Friday, April 22. (To be fair to everyone, any answers received after Friday will not be eligible for the contest.)

Just in case you missed them before, we are again providing the instructions on how to place your answer one last time below. Be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully, and send your answer by the end of Friday April 22.

Now Playing: How do You Handle Disappointment?
If the contest portion of Mystery Class doesn't result with you finding all ten secret locations, will you feel disappointed? It's natural if you do. After all, you've worked really hard all along the way. But as Mrs.Plaehn mentions in the video, think about how much you did learn and what a difference having a positive attitude makes. If you haven't done so already, watch her uplifting video clip:

Then, Try This!

• Can you think of different times when you felt disappointed or upset about something? For each one discuss or write about what you did--or could have done--to feel better. How did a positive attitude or looking at your situation from a fresh perspective make a difference?

• Ask a family member or neighbor to tell you about a time when he or she felt disappointed because something important didn't turn out very well. How did he or she handle it? Was it all bad? What did they learn from that disappointment?
  
  
• Do you think people can benefit and learn when things don't turn out well? How?
  
  
• Bicyclist Lance Armstrong overcame many challenges to win the Tour de France several times. Can you think of other people who made the best of a challenging situation? How did their positive attitude make a difference?
