(
50.083N, 8.250 E)

Greetings from Mrs. Joan Durham's First Grade class,
Aukamm Elementary School, in Wiesbaden, Germany!

We are from Aukamm Elementary School, which is a Department of Defense Dependents' School, for family members of military members serving in Germany. Our school has grades K-5. We have about 26 teachers and 221 students.

We are the first grade students, and our teacher is Mrs. Durham. You can learn more about our school on our website

The Country-Germany
Our school is located in Germany, in Europe. Germany is a leading political and economic country in Europe. Is has the second largest population of the European countries, and one of the most productive economies as well.

After World War II, Germany was divided into two countries, East Germany which was part of the communist bloc, and West Germany. In 1990, after the fall of the USSR , our two countries were unified again.

Our City-Wiesbaden
Our school is located in the city of Wiesbaden, in west central Germany, along the Rhine river. We are in the state/province of Hessen, which is also where the city of Frankfurt is located.

Wiesbaden is the capital city of Hessen. For centuries, Wiesbaden has been renowned for its baths and spas, and at one time was referred to as "The Nice of the North." Even today, tourists come to Wiesbaden for the wonderful spas and baths.

Wiesbaden also has several wonderful architectural attractions, including museums, government buildings and churches.

This is the market church in Wiesbaden, and it is said to be the tallest building in our city, with one tower at more than 90 m.

We have enjoyed being a Mystery Class, and hope you enjoyed learning about us.

Auf wiedersehen,
Mrs. Durham's First Grade Class
