A World View with a Clue
March 30, 2007

What can you learn from an animated map of world temperatures to help you confirm if you're on the right track?
Are you getting warmer? Colder?

  1. First, take a look at the color/temperature key below the map so you're familiar with which colors show which temperatures.
  2. Watch the animated map, and get comfortable with what temperature changes are happening as the colors change.
  3. Next, read the local max/min temperature information that the Mystery Classes give you below.
  4. Then, study the map again. Locate the approximate place where you think your Mystery Class is hiding based on what you know so far.
  5. Record the max/min temperature patterns you see there. Do they generally line up with the overall temperature patterns the Mystery Class gave you for that location? (If so, you're getting warmer!)
