Weather
As you would expect, the Antarctic weather can be quite inhospitable. This summer, we experienced temperature ranges from 8.7°C (48°F – quite balmy!) to a minimum of -18.3°C (1°F). During the winter months, we had a maximum of -0.4°C (31°F) to a minimum of -32°C (-25°F) and this weather was accompanied by many blizzards and high winds that reached in excess of 200km/h. The wind adds a chill factor to the ambient temperature as well – there have been days where it was only -20°C, but the added wind chill factor took the actual outside temperature to below -60°C!
