The Ocean
The Indian Ocean is a huge resource in Tanzania. Lots of locals earn their living by fishing. The ocean is also a big tourist catcher. Tourists come from all around the world to see ocean wildlife, participate in sea sports, and take boat tours on the beautiful Indian Ocean, but it’s getting polluted. Practices like dynamite fishing (where they put dynamite in the ocean which kills lots of fish) are killing wildlife and damaging reefs. Fortunately, lots of people and companies are trying to save the ocean like Sea Sense, which has focused on conservation of sea turtles, like this green sea turtle (a species which nests in Tanzania). These people understand how important the ocean is in Tanzania. Let’s hope other people will too.
