Monarch Butterfly Overwintering Region in Mexico

Monarchs travel from across eastern North America to a very small region in Mexico. You can see the region on the image above, inside the square. It is only about 70 miles wide. Within the region, only 12 sites have the habitat the butterflies need to survive.
