Tagged Monarch Reveals a Migration Pathway
In fall 2008, Mr. Don Davis tagged a monarch butterfly on the north shore of Lake Ontario at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The green marker on this map shows where he tagged the butterfly at 2:30 in the afternoon on Sunday, August 31st. Three days later, a woman found the monarch nectaring in a garden in Toronto. By chance, she met Mr. Davis at a butterfly festival and happend to tell him about her discovery! The butterfly had traveled 85 miles (140 kilometers), to the place marked with a red marker on the map.
