Back to this week's update.

What tales can a tagged monarch tell?
Thousands of citizen scientists across North America tag monarch butterflies every fall as part of the Monarch Watch program. Everybody hopes the monarchs they tag will make it to Mexico. However, any time a tagged butterfly is recovered (found again) we can learn facts about monarch migration. Here's an example: The monarch pictured below was recovered on James Island in Charleston, South Carolina. "On Tuesday, September 21st, I spotted a monarch on my lantana and it was a tagged one!!!" wrote Ms. Spence, the woman who found it.
