Every December, scientists measure the size of the monarch overwintering colonies in Mexico. This chart shows the data scientists have collected over the past 16 years. This is the most reliable estimate we have of the size of the monarch population each year. Scientists wait with great interest to see what the results will show. How large will the population be this year, they wonder? What do you predict?
