Arriving in West Texas
"Looking east (toward Glass Mountains) with dark clouds and butterflies rolling in. Evening watch found many roosting in junipers," reports Layla Battista from Alpine, Texas. She estimates 1,000 monarchs spent the night here last Friday. This dry, west Texas landscape is at longitude 104W.
