Nectaring in New York
This monarch is feeding on a Buddleia bush on the SUNY campus in Fredonia, New York. Notice that only the florets at the tip of the stalk are still blooming. Those below have already produced nectar and are going to fruit. This summer's warm temperatures caused many flowers to develop more quickly than they normally do, so the timing of nectar supplies may be affected this fall.
