Largest Texas Roost
Only seven roosts have been reported from Texas so far, containing a total of just 350 butterflies. This roost in Brackettville is by far the largest of the season:
"I estimate that I saw 2000, but I can't really guess. It was a good crop of monarchs, in clusters by the dozens (2-4 dozen per cluster) on scattered tree branches in a small pecan grove near Pinto Creek," reports Genie Robinson.
