Two Texas Flyways
Monarch migration moves through Texas on two distinct pathways. Peak migration occurs in the Central Flyway first. Migration peaks in the Coastal Flyway a few weeks later. Monarchs traveling in the Central Flyway are probably coming down from the north. It's not clear where monarchs traveling in the Coastal Flyway originate. The butterflies may be coming from the east, and/or they may have been blown from the Central Flyway
to the Coastal Flyway.
