Population Building
The monarch population builds with each new generation. Even though only 10% of eggs may survive to adulthood, one monarch can lay hundreds of eggs. Consider an example: if a monarch lays 400 eggs, she may add 40 adult butterflies to the population — thereby replacing herself 40 times.
