At a traditional roost site in Frederick, Oklahoma an estimated 4,000 monarchs arrived on October 1st. They stayed in large numbers until a cold front arrived on October 6th:
"Unfortunately a hailstorm hit the roost site that night. Miraculously, we only found 15 dead monarchs the next morning. The next night only 400 straggled in. The cold front made a huge difference!"
