Monarchs and Queens

The queen butterfly (Danaus gilippus) is a close relative of the monarch (Danaus plexippus). Look carefully at the picture. Can you spot any queens?

"This is the first day that I saw a surge in monarchs. Before today I had only 3-4 per day. This picture doesn't do justice but you can see at least 10-15 in it. There are some queens mixed in, too," noted Melanie Schuchart of Allen, Texas on October 10, 2016.
