A Migrant?
When monarch expert Dr. Lincoln Brower saw these photos he was cautious. Two clues made him suspect the monarch in the picture was not a migrant:

"I'm quite sure the monarch is a male, but I don't think it is an overwintered butterfly. It's so fresh, and the other picture shows a milkweed plant (Asclepias curassavica). My bet is that it is a freshly hatched monarch from her garden in Queretaro."
