Keeping Cool in Texas
This light-colored larva was spotted in an observer's backyard in Texas.
"The daytime temperature went to 97°F last week in southwest Texas," said Carol Cullar. "Even the nights have been so warm that monarchs have small black stripes and appear much lighter than those that hatch up north. We saw one yesterday that even had part of its feelers white!"
