Fresh Wings!
Chuck Patterson saw his first fresh-winged monarch on Sunday. It may be the offspring of a migrant from Mexico. The butterfly on the right—with worn and faded wings—is typical of others he saw last week in Driftwood, Texas. He sent these pictures to illustrate the difference.
