| Crossing fee As we approached the sanctuary, we're forced to stop by people holding a long rope across the road and have to pay a 30 peso "crossing fee." Many tourists cannot easily understand this. However, these ejidatarios (land owners) believe that, because their land borders the Reserve where Monarchs overwinter, they have the right to benefit from tourism. Otherwise, only the people who own land inside the Reserve benefit. |
Cuota de paso En cuanto me aproximaba al Santuario, unas personas que sostenían una cuerda de un extremo a otro de la carretera me detuvieron para pagar la cuota de entrada por un importe de 30 pesos. Muchos turistas no entienden esto, sin embargo, estos ejidatarios (propietarios de porciones de tierra) creen que, puesto que sus tierras circundan la Reserva donde las Monarca hibernan, tienen el derecho a beneficiarse del turismo. De otro modo, sólo la gente que posee tierra dentro de la Reserva se beneficiaría. |
