El Rosario
Thousands of monarchs flying against a background of Oyamels in the Rosario colony on 24 February 2014. The colony was located high above and east of the Llanos de los Conejos, likely higher than the colony that was frozen in the January 2002 winter storm. We do not know why the monarchs are not lower down and closer to the walkway that leads up to the Llanos de los Conejos. Getting suspicious of the impact of ecotourism. The colony was reported in December 2013 to be 0.50 hectares in area.
