Mating Increases
Prior to spring migration, mating increases in earnest. Mated pairs litter the forest floor. Once in reproductive condition, a monarch's biological clock is ticking. Monarchs live for only a few weeks after they mate. Their energy is directed toward reproduction. They'll race northward in March to produce the next generation.
