Surviving a Storm
These monarchs were knocked down from their clusters during the March 11th storm. When the photo was taken 5 days later, they had crawled up onto the stump. They'll fly back to their clusters when their muscles are warm enough — either by shivering, from the sun's rays, or when air temperatures reach the monarch's flight threshold. Notice the shivering butterflies on the lower right.
