Update Risk of Frost
Journey North

Milkweed is highly susceptible to frost damage. This plant immediately withered and turned brown as soon as the frost melted. When monarch eggs hatch on frost-damaged plants, the larvae will die of starvation, according to Dr. Lincoln Brower. Frost is one of the risks monarchs face if they migrate north too quickly in the spring.
