Observation
Reports from Citizen Scientists |
New
Jersey: I observed about 20 healthy and fluffy robins hopping
among the branches of my crabapple tree, eating the dried crabapples.
|
Virginia:
I've been witnessing large groups of Robins for several weeks, now.
They are eating berries from the neighbor's holly tree. |
Kentucky:
Thousands of robins swarmed the neighborhood and they demolished holly
bushes. They were swarming everywhere. People in the neighborhood
where all running outside to see what was going on. It was like nothing
they have ever seen before. |
Florida:
The robins arrived last week to feed on the cherry laurel berries.
There could be a couple of hundred here at one time. This is only
the second time in 10 years of living here that I have seen this many
robins at one time. |
New
Jersey: I saw many, many fat, healthy looking, robins flying
all over the backyard eating tiny berries from our juniper bushes.
The food lasted a few hours and then the robins were all gone. |
Florida:
I saw a migrating flock feeding on camphor berries.
They arrived in a continous surge. |
Maryland:
With two feet of snow on the ground and more snow predicted, there
was a large flock of robins in the neighbors crabapple tree today |
Look for more examples of food robins eat in the
wintertime!
