Finally Here!

"FINALLY! Heard first robin singing this morning, at least a week later than the previous latest. It's been a cold April." —Norwich, VT, April 7

"FINALLY, today we saw our first four robins of year! Usually by this time we have seen many robins." —Williston, VT, April 8

What's up? Ornithologist Laura Erickson comments:

"This year, spring is delayed in a great many places. Robins that are usually singing in northern Minnesota by now haven't returned yet this year. Robins follow the 36-degree isotherm, working their way up through the southern and central states. They're usually well into the northern states by now, but in many places their migration is delayed because of the exceptional weather patterns this year."
