Several observers reported flocks of robins mixing with flocks of starlings or cedar waxwings. This is normal winter behavior. What are all those birds looking for?

"I'd say there are over 500 robins. About 200 cedar waxwings accompanied them until about 3 days ago. They are looking for water as well as cherry laurel and palm berries." Ann Foster, Rockledge, Florida (February 9, 2014)

"We were surprised to see a flock of about 20 robins in our courtyard at school. There were other birds there as well that we couldn't identify." Carol B.’s 5th grade class at Charlotte A. Dunning School, Framingham, Massachusetts (February 3, 2014)
