Finding Food
Robins can survive deep cold if they have the right food to eat. It's been a harsh winter, and this hungry robin is a good observer. Something—whether motion, colors, or other birds feeding—attracted him to a feeding station on a deck, which is not a robin's usual hunting grounds! If you want to entice robins to your platform feeder, put out a small bowl of colorful blueberries or raspberries to catch their attention. Better yet is a plate of wriggling, high-protein mealworms —and hope robins see the wrigglers before freezing temps stop them cold.

"This is the robin who has adopted our yard while he is eating a mealworm from the feeding station on our deck."
