Winter Nomads
Although they’re considered harbingers of spring, many American robins spend the whole winter in their breeding range. They rely mainly on berries to tide them over until spring.
The number of robins present in the northern parts of the range varies each year with the local conditions.
Winter robins spend more time roosting in trees and less time in your yard. Look up and watch for them!
"This has been a strange warm winter without snow. There was one Robin that over wintered, but now 5 more have arrived." Pam R. Haines, Alaska January 26, 2015
