Berry Binge
Another week of rain, snow and ice made for hungry flocks of robins fueling up for warmth and flight. Take a close look inside this robin's mouth. He's plucked a berry, which rests on the front of the tongue. A robin manipulates food with its tongue to get it down the hatch. The spiny roof of the mouth keeps the fruit from moving forward as the robin works the berry down.
