“Niños Héroes”, Elementary
Today, January 13, was one of the coldest days of the winter season in our region, 0-5° C. We should remind you that here our schools and homes have no heating systems. About 20 years ago, both schools and classrooms were constructed with wood, but not properly sealed against cold wind and rain. Nowadays they are better constructed, but still too cold for children to be comfortable. The only heat comes from the warmness of all children together in the enclosed classrooms.

In the school pictures, Estela is almost run over when the children see the models of the monarch life cycle. She holds them high as they crowd, shout and try to guess the right answers to her questions!

Children enjoyed their letters and gifts in the classroom, fascinated to see so many different designs of Ambassador Monarchs, and the wonderful contents of the US and Canadian students' letters. They were so interested in learning about the different school activities that students described.  Thrilled to dream they could read and pronounce the English words written there!
