Symbolic Monarchs in Mexico

José María Morelos y Pavón Elementary School - 4th and 6th Grades
This school is located in the second belt surrounding territory to Sanctuary "El Rosario".

Some of the classes in this school are combined due to a problem with getting new teachers to replace retiring teachers. The remaining teachers pitch in to include the teacherless classes. Sometimes students in those teacherless classes just stay home. This is a problem that needs to be solved!

Students are very excited about the lessons and about the beautiful butterflies they are receiving. I hope you see your butterfly held by a student in this presentation!

During the years visiting schools, I cannot remember having seen a girl who brought her lunch prepared by Mom at home as this girl today!  She was having a quesadilla, some jelly.  One of the big problems and topics of public discussion at very high level among our official institutions now in México, is the fact of the quality of our nutrition facts for Mexican children nowadays.  Schools occupy a main place in the topic, since for years now, schools sell flour snacks to children for luch at break-time and whichever chemical drink as refreshment. Lately, mothers have absolutely abandoned the long traditional custom of preparing our children a real lunch which consisted of some tacos filled with beans or eggs, or a torta or a quesadilla. A good home-made lunch for their children would, by lunch time, when they are starving, hold them over until they have dinner with the family.

Students find some snacks at the school store and spend time during break eating and playing with their classmates.

When school is done for the day many Moms pick up their children at the entrance of the school. They walk together back home for dinner with the family.

If students are disruptive in class they are assigned to clean up the classroom that day!

Students came over to help carry items and then ask for a ride in Rocinante.
