Consuelo Fernández Albarrán Elementary - Sixth Grade
Consuelo Fernández Albarrán is located in San José del Rincón, near sanctuary Sierra Chincua, and lies near the borders dividing the States of México and Michoacán. This school has an enormous population, around 250 students whose families own agricultural and forest land around. More than ever, delivering the message of Habitat Conservation for Monarchs and for the future of our own region is vital.

These sixth graders, who range among 10-11 years old, make a lot of questions about the way Monarchs live in USA and Canada.  They thought Monarchs form sanctuaries up there in the North.  They kept mouths open when Estela tells them that from every 100 eggs a female Monarch lays, an average of only 3 will manage to become Monarchs! This is because predators and other threatening conditions may not make it  possible for more eggs to survive!
