Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Elementary, Grades 5 and 6 It takes around one hour of driving through the mountain paths here behind Sierra Chincua Sanctuary, to reach these back surrondings. Children here are very aware of the importance of forest conservation in the region for the Monach Butterflies and our own survival. They were very proud to tell about their experience of going to help plant to re-forest their mountains last August after the terrible storm dropped so many trees. When I arrived some of the teachers weren't excited about having me present to the students. However, at the end of the presentation, they were really delighted to have learned about Monarchs, our being the forests with the region in the world with the biggest nucleous of Oyamel trees in the world. The way the Oyamel trees are such a special species, specially for Monarchs’ overwintering conditions… etc., etc. During the presentation and exchange of information with children, the track of time gets very easily lost due to the so much things to learn!
