18 de Marzo Elementary School, Grade 6 This Village and school are located right next to Ocampo town (located at the foot of mountains of Sanctuary El Rosario), where most of the timber and forestal resources concentrate after having been bought to ejidatarios either legally or illegaly. The whole life of communities for decades and decades has had such activity. In the more recent years, little by little, new generations go out to cities to study, other sources of life are now practiced by the population and together with reinforcement in environmental education, the hope of preservation of the remaining forest areas in the region shall prevail. Children at this year’s message from Journey North showed highly concerned about the importance of preserving our environmental resources. They are fully aware of the importance of it for Monarchs and show themselves eager to be part of the compromise of conservation, included in this, their own future, as they themselves openly express.Break time: Mothers at this school, fully compromised to provide their children with nutritious food, such as nuddle soup, tortas (bread with cheese, jam slices, red tomato, lettuce, avocado, very similar to a hamburger preparation), tacos (rolled tortillas filled with smashed beans, smashed potatos or beef meat, dressed with spicy sauce, cream and grinded cheese), and as dessert, jelly or fruit in small plastic-cups.
