Telebachillerato Comunitario No. 420 High School
Telebachillerato Comunitario No. 420 High School is located in San Jerónimo Pilitas Community.
The higher the level gets for children to attend school, the fewer the number of students attending it, in spite of the high school level available in the community. Most likely, as in many other communities, boys and girls at this age choose to start fully supporting their parents in agricultural and forest activities as well as at home respectively. While elementary school attendants go from 10-15- students, high school groups have got an average of 3 students per grade.
The forest richness of this communities, --having perhaps part of the most dense forests surrounding the Monarchs’ Colonies--, and the importance of their conservation makes it necessary for Journey North to visit and get to each of the school levels of this community, trying to make them even more aware of the importance of their natural surrounding.
The photos show a very similar dynamics running with the rest of the schools. Students at this level welcomed in all moments our talk around Monarchs’ habitat survival. They find higly interesting to learn about the importance and vital the conservation of our region ecosystem. They get dumb the moment the reflexion let them see how praries and canopy in general get rather scarce around some areas of our agricultural lands nowadays, being them so importance to keep nature’s equilibrium.
*The facilities of this school in the community is indeed limited in space and conditions, and because of this, it is of high merit that the community managed to get the authorization to have this school level available for their children.
*At several schools, including these, some students ask Estela which careers would lead them to study more of this topics in the future!. They show themselves really concerned about the importance of the topics!.
Both of their teachers showed themselves delighted at our visit, and for JN, is in the same way highly compensating that the message and delivery of the Ambassador Monarchs’ effect leaves such a positive reflection both in teachers and students.
