Emiliano Zapata Elementary School, Grades 4 - 6
Emiliano Zapata Elementary is located right next to San Jerónimo Pilitas Community in a community called Pancho Maya. It is in the first belt back surrounding territory and forests to Sanctuary Sierra Chincua.
The Pancho Maya community and San Jerónimo Community are very, very close together and share the same dense forest areas. They separate from each other by 2 kilometers more or less.
Children at this school, showed themselves highly enthusiastic the moment the white VW appeared in front of their school. The refreshing and learning of Monarchs’ migration and life-cycle facts result every year of high interest to hear again. Some facts they remember, some others not, and some others are so new to them, the they keep mouth open to most of the talk and exchange.
These forests are particularly populated by Oyamel trees and Estela states this fact as relevant during their presentation, letting them see how important it is that their forest keep the same density of Oyamel trees, making their forests and our region unique in the world, --to which their faces turn instantly proud--!
The classroom dynamics resulted very positive as it was in the previous neighbouring elementary school, plus an activity they loved to do at solving a Monarch puzzle they received as part of their educational gifts.
It has been important to visit these three schools together today, since they are schools located at villages rather deserted and far into the middle of several forests, having mostly a good road condition to reache them all.
