Consuelo Fernández Albarrán Elementary, Grades 1-6
This school is located in “San José del Rincón” town. In Estado de México; border town with Angangueo, Michoacán. 

Monarchs settle sometimes in areas that border territories (ejidos) of different neighbouring municipalities. In this case they settled in San José del Rincón on the side of the State of México, and Senguio, Angangueo and Ocampo on the side of the state of Michoacán. 

“When this happens, the rights on a Sanctuary quite special, since ejidatario families of both sides of the occupied territories find it difficult to make agreements on how to share responsibilities and benefits on the Sanctuaries themselves.”

Cold temperatures (0, 2, 4 Centigrade) in the morning with some rain and even hail are typical for our winter time. We all know that it will not get better, unless it snows.  We locals believe that once it snows, the weather becomes much more stable.

This is a really highly populated school.  It would be difficult to visit all the children so Estela is allowed a representative group of each grade to participate.  They are about 400 (four hundred students).

Older children, 5th., and 6th., graders, teach younger ones about Monarch’s migration and hatching from egg to butterfly! Younger children simply astonished to hear about the miracle.
Children partiipate mentioning different plants, trees and mushrooms which live in our forests altogether with Oyamel trees and Monarchs. In their letters to North-American and Canadian, Alaskan and German Children, Mexican children living around the Monach butterflies’ Sanctuaries, share showing their counterparts about the living flora and fauna with which Monarchs overwinter every year.

At breaktime, for 5, 6, or at the most 8 pesos, children enjoy having delicious Mexican tacos serving, tortas, pozole, or on the other side, any kind of snack they may prefer.
