Greetings from Estela Romero

Dear Canadian and North American children:

We are celebrating the arrival of the Symbolic Monarchs now in and around the schools surrounding the monarch sanctuaries! This is how José Alberto, Javier, Rosita, Erika — and I, Estela, load "Rocinante," my brave little Volkswagon with flags, Symbolic Monarchs, books, and flags each day we visit the schools.

Now Journey North's student crew and I are driving around Sierra Chincua and El Rosario Sanctuaries to share your Symbolic Butterflies. Almost 1,500 native children in these schools will receive letters written from all of you. We will be visiting children at every single Elementary school, but also visiting 2-3 Junior Highs, and one High School which has shown particular interest to participate in the project.

My proud little "Rocinante" is transporting every day an average of 100 letters and symbolic Monarchs to these children. In return, a letter is collected from each of them telling you about their daily life, likes and culture in general. They want you to know they are taking care of the monarchs overwintering in the local oyamel forests.

We wanted to show you that WE'RE STARTING OUR MAGIC VISITS TO OUR CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITIES!

Here we go...!
