Greetings from Zimbabwe!
My name is Ashlove Saungweme and I am a student at the Lord Malvern School located
in Waterfall, Harare, Zimbabwe. This picture is of my class and our teacher Mr. Chigiya.
We are students in Form 2B. At our school each student wears a uniform. Most of the
students walk to school, but some ride public transportation buses. During the school
week, I live with relatives in Waterfall. My home in Harare is too far away, so I
visit my family on the weekends and holiday breaks.
Waterfall is located 15 KM from the capital city of our country, Harare. Many people
live in Waterfall and commute daily via bus to work in Harare. Waterfall is known
as a high-density suburb.

Our country, Zimbabwe has over 11 million people. Zimbabwe was formerly a British
Colony, and was once known as Rhodesia, and Harare, was once know as Salisbury. Zimbabwe
gained its independence in 1980 a few years before I was born.
I know it is spring in America, but for us, we are just beginning winter. Our rainy
season is now over, and we are entering the drier, cooler season. The temperature
is warm during the day, and cool at night.
Our school does not have a computer, and there is just one phone which does not always
work. We are very happy that you are interested in our school, and we very much would
like to have pen friends to write to in America. Will you write us?
