Hello everyone!
We are a class of eight-year-olds from Ms. Rebecca Wong's Primary Two class at St. Hilda's Primary School in Singapore,
a country that is near the equator. We have a very hot climate and we do not experience the four seasons here.
Our country is very peaceful and we have not had riots and strikes since 1965.
We are a nation of multi-racial cultures. The majority of people here are the Chinese. There are also Malays, Indians,
Eurasians and a small minority of other races living in harmony here. As we are a multi-racial community, we celebrate
many festivals, such as the English New Year (Eurasians), Chinese New Year (Chinese), Hari Raya Puasa and HariRaya
Haji (Malays), Deepavali and Thaipusam (Indians). As a result, people here can often speak languages belonging
to other races as well.

Our country does not have a long history. We were formally founded by Sir Stamford
Raffles in 1819 and only gained independence in 1965. In all, our main political party is called the People's Action
Party and our population is about 3 million people.
Tropical fruits are a favorite with the people here. We love to eat durians and mangosteens. Many people here love
to eat food with lots of chili. Curry chicken or fish head is also a favorite with many people here.
Recently, we are one of the countries hit by haze pollution due to raging fires in our neighboring countries. Late
last year, even Australia was affected by the haze. So countries in this area are trying their best to put out
the fires and clear the haze as soon as possible.

People here are friendly and we are considered one of the better countries in terms of technological advancement.
English is our mainstream language and we have a high educational standard compared to other countries in our area.
Information Technology is high on our list of priorities for the 21st century. We do not have natural resources
here so people are our sole resource for the country.
We love our country and we are proud to be one of her people.
