| Background | A wild manatee just tagged in the Homosassa River on Florida's west coast on January 26, 1999. Dmitra is a small mom, 281 cm., accompanied by her male Calf Ivan. Scientists first met them in Feb 1998, wintering in the warm spring waters of Crystal River. Ivan was probably born in the summer of 1997 - he is a big 209 cm now! |
